NITROGEEZERS > Ross maneuvers to position Scorpion for unloading, affording us this view of Scorpion's uniquely styled rear. What a fine job by Don and great-looking result!
NITROGEEZERS > A very satisfied Bobby Langley settles into Scorpion V and everything seems familiar from the last time he did this decades ago. Check out that airscoop!
NITROGEEZERS > Here's the restored 1972 Camaro "Jungle Jim" Funny Car owned and driven by Henry Gutierrez that was making its debut NHRR appearance. Lots of fond memories for lots of NHRR attendees involving Jungle Jim, Jungle Pam and this car!
NITROGEEZERS > Ray Godman's "Tennessee Bo-Weevil" fuel dragster returned for a second appearance at NHRR and Cacklefest. Original driver Preston Davis (standing in the car) and Godman (wheelchair) attract interested onlookers.
NITROGEEZERS > Norb Locke fire's up his "Grandpa's Toy" and fills the air with with its special kind of music. Norb once owned similar dragster utilizing the same Scotty Fenn "K88" chassis in the early 1960's and restored this one to typify the popular breed .
NITROGEEZERS > Among the debutantes at NHRR was Ron Johnson's just completed (but yet-to-be-painted) reproduction of the famous Tommy Ivo "Barnstormer" fuel dragster. It was the centerpiece of a three-car Ivo-dragster display. More photos of it later in this album.
NITROGEEZERS > The "youngest" of the three Ivo cars on display was Bruce Larson's fantastic restoration of Ivo's 1974/75 rear-engined dragster. Easel display on the left shows it's "final ride" in 1975....until now!
NITROGEEZERS > The car is a showcase of "state of the art" dragster design technology for the early rear-engined cars. Note the wing size and upright, open cockpit.
NITROGEEZERS > Front wheel shrouds on the Ivo dragster were a short-lived aero fad of dubious value but really "dressed up" cars so equipped. They certainly add to the appeal of Ivo's ride.
